New London, Conn.

NEW LONDON, Conn. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team opened its spring schedule by navigating through lingering snow, ice and wind to place 15th overall at the Coast Guard Veitor Trophy over the weekend on the Thames River.

Sophomores Ryan Novak-Smith (Johnston, R.I.), Mariah Allen (Rochester, Mass.) and Matthew Woodward (Middleboro, Mass.), along with freshman Jeffrey Adam (Newport, R.I.), comprised the Buccaneer squads for the competition, as the quartet overcame the elements to post consistent top 15 finishes in races throughout the weekend.

Massachusetts Maritime returns to action next weekend by competing at the Providence Southern Series One on Narragansett Bay.
