BOURNE/BOSTON, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team placed sixth over the weekend at the New England Dinghy Championships hosted by Boston University, and the Buccaneers also posted an 11th place overall finish in hosting the Admiral Alymer’s Trophy at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center.

Sophomores George Luber (North Reddington Beach, Fla.) and Evan Sampou (West Newbury, Mass.) comprised Massachusetts Maritime’s “A” entry at the Dinghy Championships, while the Buccaneer “B” boat was comprised of freshmen Jeffrey Adam (Newport, R.I.) and Sergio Gratta (Sarasota, Fla.).   The freshman duo posted three first place finishes during Sunday’s competition and helped lead Massachusetts Maritime to a sixth place overall finish in the event.

In action on Herring Pond, sophomores Ryan Novak-Smith (Johnston, R.I.), Joseph Dragon (Glen Arm, Md.) and Aoife Callinan (West Falmouth, Mass.) helped lead a crew also comprised of freshmen Cassandra Kolstad (Madison, Conn.), Chris Dawson and Patrick Kapp.  The Buccaneers finished 11th overall in the competition, besting Division I New Hampshire and UMass along the way.
