BOURNE, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team enjoyed its finest performance of the fall season over the weekend, as the Buccaneers finished fourth among 15 teams competing at the Great Herring Pond Invitational at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center.

Seniors Sean McLaughlin (Fairhaven, Mass.) and Matthew Ferlotti (Fairfax, Va.) represented Massachusetts Maritime in the “A” division, while the duo of sophomores Kyle Brego (St. John, Virgin Islands) and Evan Sampou (West Newbury, Mass.) comprised the “B” boat.  McLaughlin and Ferlotti won two of the final three “A” division races, while Brego and Sampou posted several top three performances throughout the weekend in the “B” vessel.

Additionally, the Buccaneers competed at the Providence Invitational in Narragansett Bay over the weekend, as sophomore George Luber (North Reddington Beach, Fla.) and freshman John Willis (Georgetown, Mass.) raced in the “A” division while freshmen Jeffrey Adam (Newport, R.I.) and Jamie Hayes (Stonington, Conn.) were in the “B” boat.  The quartet combined for several top three finishes and placed sixth overall among the 11 teams competing in the event.

Massachusetts Maritime will compete next weekend at the prestigious Navy MacMillan Cup, the MIT Oberg Trophy, Boston College Central Series Six, New Hampshire Peak Foliage Invitational and the Southern Maine Wellahan Trophy.
