BEVERLY, Mass – The Buccaneers men's and women's cross country teams hit the road on Saturday to take part in their first meet of the season in Essex County, Mass at Palmer State Park. The Bucs women's team has three runners in the top 30 while the men's team had two runners finish in the top 25. 

In the women's 5k race, senior Lily Hakkarainen (Chesterfield, N.H.) was the top finisher for the Bucs. She finished 24^th overall with a final time of 24:16. Senior Sarah Smialek (Dartmouth, Ma) was second for Maritime in the 26^th spot finishing in 25:51. Cam Boyce (Whitman, Ma) finished 26^th overall in 25:17.

In the men's race, Buccaneer senior Lukas Janulaitis (Centerville, Ma) was the top finisher for Maritime in 17^th with a time of 29:45.55. Junior captain Ben Tuttle (Barre, Ma) finished 21^st with a time of 30:17.26.

Both teams travel to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, September 18^th for their second race of the season.
