Men's Cross Country Captures Fourth Straight Travis Fuller Invitational Crown

BOURNE, Mass. --  Senior Robby Galvin (Woburn, Mass.) led five Massachusetts Maritime runners in the top 10 with a runner-up individual finish as the Buccaneers claimed their fourth straight team title at the 13th Annual Lt. Travis J. Fuller Cross Country Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Falcon Golf Course on Joint Base Cape Cod.

 

Galvin posted a time of 29:32 over the 8K layout, as sophomore Daniel Plumb (Hopkinton, Mass.), senior Chris MacKay (Bethany, Conn.) and freshman Alex Imperillo (Chelmsford, Mass.) followed in the third through fifth place spots with respective times of 29:38, 30:23 and 30:37 for the hosts.  Freshman Zach Ferreira (Stoughton, Mass.) rounded out Massachusetts Maritime’s scoring with a 10th place finishing time of 31:13, as the Buccaneers posted a score of 24 points to outdistance runner-up Naval Academy Prep (54) and third-place (Dean).  Eastern Nazarene finished fourth with a score of 111 points, while Rivier (133) and Pine Manor (177) followed in the fifth and sixth spots.  Anna Maria did not register a team score in the event.

 

Naval Academy Prep freshman Brandon Sherrill (Lincolnton, N.C.) took top individual honors in the race with a time of 29:24, while freshman teammate Courtney Fullilove (Norfolk, Va.) added an eighth place time of 31:01.  Dean recorded the other three top 10 individual performances in the competition, as freshman Ryan Glynn (Abington, Mass.), sophomore Ross Rubin (Annandale, Va.) and freshman Matthew Alport (Glen Rock, N.J.) posted respective sixth, seventh and ninth place finishing times of 31:00, 31:01 and 31:09 for the Bulldogs.

 

Massachusetts Maritime travels to Westfield, Mass. next Saturday morning to compete in the Westfield State James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park beginning at 11:15 a.m.
