NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.-- The Massachusetts Maritime men's cross country team posted a second straight strong showing on Saturday afternoon, as the Buccaneers placed second among MASCAC entrants and 20th overall at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational.

Senior Kyle Ingersoll (Wakefield, Mass.) was the top individual performer for the Buccaneers on the day, as he covered the five mile layout in a time of 27:06 to place 96th individually of 278 entrants. Sophomore Paul Matz (Plainville, Mass.) was next in 122nd place with a time of 27:40, while freshman Jonathan Quigley (Braintree, Mass.), junior Matt Sturgis (Cummaquid, Mass.) and sophomore Patrick Dannaher (Arlington, Va.) closed out the scoring for Massachusetts Maritime with times of 27:46, 28:07 and 28:23, respectively, to finish 131st, 149th and 156th. Keene State captured the team title on the men's side, with Coast Guard and MIT finishing second and third, respectively.

On the women's side, freshman Emily Burbank (Yarmouthport, Mass.) posted a time of 22:00 even on the 5K layout to place 211th overall, as the Buccaneers finished 38th in the final team standings. Senior Patricia Malagrino (Barrington, R.I.) was next at 22:20, followed by senior Emily Rizzo (Milwaukee, Wis.), junior Kaitlin O'Donnell (Damascus, Md.) and senior Rebecca Brow (Brick, N.J.), who posted times of 22:47, 23:40 and 28:23, respectively.

Both Buccaneer squads return to action next Saturday morning in heading to New London, Conn. to compete in the Connecticut College Invitational that begins at 11:00 a.m.
