Buccaneers Extend Win Streak to Three with Win over Dean

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – The Buccaneer men's soccer team hosted the Dean College Bulldogs in non-conference play on Thursday night at Clean Harbors Stadium on a misty cold night by the bay. The Bucs didn't waste any time, scoring three minutes in to the match then added two more for good measure, winning by a score of 3-0.

Maritime got their goals off three different pegs in the game with Brendan Gawron (Braintree, Mass) scoring the first, his first goal of the season, which would also end up being the game winner. Jacob Crawford (Rockland, Mass) scored the second for the hosts his second of the year. Scoring his third goal of the season and third of the game, Stephen Froio (Auburn, Mass) added the final goal in the Buc victory. In total, the Buccaneers continued their high shot total with 33 in total, 18 on target. The three goals were assisted by different Buccaneers as well, adding Adam Crawford (Kingston, Mass), Kyle Daly (Plymouth, Mass), Captain Zach O'Neil (Scituate, Mass), and Andrew Wayrynen (Rockport, Mass) to the scoresheet. In goal, Connor Murphy (Mashpee, Mass) made his third consecutive start and captured his third consecutive win making one save on the only shot he faced. Murphy was relieved in the second half by freshman goalie Mitch Hardy (Pepperell, Mass). Hardy faced two shots, saving both of them in his 45 minutes of work.

The Bulldogs had three shots in total, all on target, with two coming on the right foot of Felipe Campos, the other from Tyler Medeiros. In goal for Dean, Devin Moore faced 18 Buccaneers shots, saving 15 of them and allowing the three scores.

Maritime wasted little time getting on the scoreboard with Gawron finding the back of the net in the third minute. In the 17th minute, the Bucs were awarded a free kick from 25 yards out. O'Neil delivered the ball in to the box which was flicked by Daly on to Jacob Crawford who snuck a shot past Moore for the second Maritime goal. Late in the first half, the 36th minute, Froio found the back of the net on a pass from Wayrynen to score the third and final goal of the night with 54 minutes left in the contest.

At the end of the 90, the Bucs left the field with the victory, improving to 4-6-1 on the season. With the loss, Dean falls to 1-9.

Next up for the Academy is a road trip to Westfield State on Saturday for a MASCAC face-off with the Owls. Kickoff set for 12pm.
