FINAL:              FRAMINGHAM STATE 3, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 1

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Maycon Malta’s (Milford, Mass.) goal with 3:04 remaining in the opening half proved to be the game-winner as Framingham State presented Head Coach Dean Nichols with his 100th career victory in a 3-1 triumph over Massachusetts Maritime in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer match played Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Freshman Gil Mendes (Framingham, Mass.) gave the visiting Rams (5-11-1, 3-2-1 MASCAC) a 1-0 lead just 10:09 into the contest on a feed from junior Nicholas Cotter (Sandwich, Mass.) for his third goal of the season, but the host Buccaneers (6-7-2, 2-3-1 MASCAC) evened matters in the 25th minute when freshman Thomas McCarthy (Tybee Island, Ga.) collected his third marker of the year on a shot from 20 yards out.  Malta then deflected a pass from freshman Akram Ndamba (Framingham, Mass.) for his first tally of the season that staked Framingham State to a 2-1 edge at the break, and junior Bryan DaSilva’s (Milford, Mass.) direct kick conversion in the 67th minute iced the visitors’ triumph and gave their 11th-year mentor his milestone.

Junior Kiko Anzoategui (Peabody, Mass.) picked up the win in goal with a six-save effort for the Rams, while freshman Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) made five stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which held a 13-10 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in corners for the evening.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts WPI in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Framingham State hosts Clark in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon in Framingham, Mass. that begins at 3:00 p.m.
