NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Senior Joe Mecca’s (Amsterdam, N.Y.) goal with 6:03 remaining lifted MCLA to a 1-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Shewcraft Field.
Mecca converted a feed from fellow senior Pat Endy (Catskill, N.Y.) on the deciding tally for the host Trailblazers (3-4, 1-1 MASCAC), and senior Dillon Wager (Amsterdam, N.Y.) made that stand up in goal for MCLA with a five-save effort to record the shutout triumph. Senior Brett Young (Falmouth, Mass.) made one first half stop in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (4-2-1, 0-2 MASCAC), who held a 10-6 advantage in shots for the contest.
Massachusetts Maritime heads to New London, Conn. on Tuesday evening to take on Coast Guard in a non-league outing that begins at 6:00 p.m., while MCLA hosts Castleton in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon at Shewcraft Field beginning at 4:00 p.m.
