BOSTON, Mass. --  Senior Ben Nasman (Lenox, Mass.) and sophomore Matt Racca (Wakefield, R.I.) netted second half goals to lift Wentworth to a 2-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday evening at Sweeney Field.

After a scoreless opening half of action, Nasman gave the host Leopards (3-2) the only marker they would need by converting feeds from seniors John Golden (Whitman, Mass.) and Dave Fustino (Meriden, Conn.) just 3:01 after intermission, and Racca’s unassisted tally with one minute remaining in the contest iced the Wentworth triumph.

Junior Brian Pearsall (Sanford, Maine) made four saves to pick up the shutout win in goal for the Leopards, while freshman Brett Young (Falmouth, Mass.) made nine stops in net in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-3), as Wentworth outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 22-9 margin for the match.

Massachusetts Maritime opens Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon by hosting Framingham State in a league outing at Clean Harbors Stadium that begins at Noon, while Wentworth travels to Newport, R.I. on Saturday afternoon to square off with Salve Regina in its Commonwealth Coast Conference opener that begins at 1:00 p.m.
