BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.-- First half goals by freshmen Josh Hoy (Camp Hill, Pa.) and Kevin McCord (Norwell, Mass.) lifted Massachusetts Maritime to a 2-0 non-league college men's soccer victory over UMass Boston Tuesday afternoon at Commander Ellis Field.

Hoy converted a pass from fellow freshman Mike McCarthy (Norwell, Mass.) just 4:40 into the contest to give the host Buccaneers (2-3) the only goal they would need, and McCord added an insurance marker in the 21st minute of action when he converted sophomore Kyle Sheehan's (Bridgewater, Mass.) corner kick for the other score of the day. Freshman Corey Cameron (Westfield, Mass.) took care of the rest in goal for Massachusetts Maritime, as he made four saves to pick up the shutout win in his first collegiate start.

Sophomore Domenick Presuitte (West Barnstable, Mass.) made seven stops in net in the setback for the host Beacons (2-4), as the Buccaneers outshot UMass Boston by a 16-9 margin for the match.

Massachusetts Maritime seeks its third straight victory Thursday evening when the Buccaneers host Anna Maria in a non-league outing at Commander Ellis Field beginning at 7:00 p.m., while UMass Boston hosts Rhode Island College in a Little East match on Saturday afternoon in Boston beginning at 1:00 p.m.
