BRIDGEWATER, Mass.-- Junior Luke Brewer (Edgartown, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist to lead Bridgewater State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference men's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Swenson Field.

Brewer gave the host Bears (11-4-2, 4-2-1 MASCAC) the only goal they would need 4:24 into the match after converting passes from senior Jon Nutting (Rockland, Mass.) and sophomore Donald Flores (Cranston, R.I.), and he set up junior Peter Wahlgren's (Shrewsbury, Mass.) marker 3:15 after intermission that extended Bridgewater State's lead to 2-0. Freshman Chris Swindell (Milford, Mass.) iced the triumph for the hosts with an insurance tally with 10 minutes remaining on a feed from sophomore Mike Fraser (Marshfield, Mass.) to close out the scoring.

Senior Ryan Seifert (Ludlow, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Bridgewater State with one save on the day, while senior Tim Meighan (East Bridgewater, Mass.) made nine stops in his final collegiate appearance in net for the visiting Buccaneers, who end the season at 5-11-2 and 1-6 in MASCAC play. The Bears held a 20-7 advantage in shots on goal for the contest.

Bridgewater State awaits its seeding in the upcoming 2008 MASCAC Men's Soccer Championships, as the Bears will play a semi-final round match on Wednesday. Massachusetts Maritime more than doubled its overall win total of last year, as 10 of the Buccaneers' 18 matches were decided by one goal.
