BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.-- Senior Matt Duggan's (Worcester, Mass.) goal with 5:22 remaining proved to be the game-winner and lifted Massachusetts Maritime to a 1-0 non-league college men's soccer triumph over Becker Wednesday evening at Commander Ellis Field.

Duggan converted a pass from senior teammate Tim Meighan (East Bridgewater, Mass.) on the deciding tally that gave the host Buccaneers (1-3) the victory, as his breakaway marker from 20 yards out was the lone score of the contest. Meighan made that stand up in net for Massachusetts Maritime, making six saves, including two point blank stops in the final 14 minutes, to notch the shutout for the hosts. Junior Aaron Fill (Delta, B.C.) made seven saves in the setback for the visiting Hawks (2-1), as the Buccaneers outshot Becker by a 13-11 margin for the evening.

Massachusetts Maritime will be idle until next Tuesday afternoon when the Buccaneers host UMass Boston in a non-league match at Commander Ellis Field that begins at 3:30 p.m., while Becker hosts Framingham State in a non-league outing on Saturday afternoon in Leicester, Mass. that begins at 2:30 p.m.
