Six Buccaneers Named to Seven All-MASCAC Spots
WESTFIELD, Mass -- Wednesday afternoon the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) released their 2021 Football All-Conference Teams. Among the 54 players from the nine MASCAC football programs, six Buccaneers earned spots on the first and second teams with two players named to the 1st Team defense, one named to the 1st team offense, three named to the 2nd team defense, and one named to the 2nd team offense.
1st Team Defense Selections
Cobey Williamson, #2, Defensive Back, Senior, North Easton, MA -- Williamson finished the 2021 season having tallied 39 tackles, 31 solo, two tackles for loss and eight pass breakups which was tied for fourth in the conference. Most impressively, Cobey tied for the league lead in interceptions on the season with five, including an interception for a touchdown against Fitchburg State. This is Williamson's first All-MASCAC selection.
Mack Brown, #91, Defensive Lineman, Junior, Harvey, LA -- Brown served as a captain for the Buccaneers as a junior in 2021. On the field, Mack totaled 6.5 sacks, second in the conference, compiled 38 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, fourth in the league, while also recovering two fumbles and forcing one fumble. This is Brown's first All-MASCAC selection.
First Team Offense
George Lampros, #99, Kicker, Graduate, Bridgewater, MA -- A second-year captain for the Buccaneers, Lampros finished the 2021 season perfect on field goals and extra points for Maritime. George made all nine of his field goal attempts on the season, the most attempts of his career and the most converted of his career. In a 22-20 win over West Conn, Lampros made five field goals including a 46 yarder that not only won the game but is Lampros's career-long and a program record-long. He also converted all 18 of his extra point attempts on the season. This is George's second All-MASCAC selection as a kicker. He was named 2nd Team All-Conference kicker in 2019.
Second Team Defense
Kyle Rogers, #10, Defensive Back, Senior, Abington, MA -- A captain for the Bucs, Rogers finished second on the Buccaneers in tackles and ninth in the conference in the category with 68, 47 solo. He also tallied 1.5 sacks, which came against Bridgewater State in the Cranberry Bowl, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble, an interception and nine pass breakups, third in the conference. This is Rogers's second All-MASCAC nod as he was selected as a 2nd Team defensive back as a sophomore in the 2019 season.
Hugh Wells, #58, Defensive Lineman, Junior, West Hartford, CT -- Wells finished 2021 with 57 tackles, 37 solo, four sacks, tied for eighth in the league, 13 tackles for loss, third in the league, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup. This is Hugh's first All-MASCAC selection.
George Lampros, #99, Punter, Graduate, Bridgewater, MA -- For the second time in his career, Lampros was selected to the MASCAC All-Conference teams as a Kicker and a Punter. The same happened in 2019 when he was selected as the 1st Team punter and 2nd Team kicker. This season, George finished third in the conference in yards per punt with 38.2 yard per. He punted the most of any punter in the league and amassed a career-high 2,328 total punt yards. He also had a career long punt of 65 yards. Of his 61 punts, he pinned opponents inside their own 20 yard line 16 times, the most of his career and tied for the most in the conference this season. This is Lampros's third All-MASCAC selection as a punter.
Second Team Offense
Andrew Brightman, #25, Wide Receiver, Sophomore, Wareham, MA -- Brightman finished his first season as a Buccaneer with a team-high 47 receptions and 675 yards for two touchdowns. His 47 receptions were good for third in the conference while his 675 receiving yards were good for fourth in the league. This is Brightman's first All-MASCAC selection.
