Buccaneer Football Gearing Up For Fall Kickoff

The Battle of the Chowder Bowl, the season opening gridiron contest for the Massachusetts Maritime Buccaneers will be hosted by the SUNY Maritime Privateers this year. The September 7th season opening kickoff in Throggs Neck, N.Y. will make the 11th annual meeting of the two Chowder Bowl rivals.

The Buccaneers will host Maine Maritime in their home opener on September 15th at Clean Harbors Stadium in the 46th Annual Admiral's Cup, which Massachusetts Maritime won last season by a score of 34-25. Framingham State comes to Clean Harbors Stadium the next week for the Kelley Cup, with the Buccaneers ending the month of September on the road at Fitchburg State on September 29th.

The Westfield State Owls arrive at Clean Harbors Stadium on October 6th, followed the next week by a visit from Western Connecticut State. A trip north follows the next week as Massachusetts Maritime heads for Plymouth, N.H. to take on the Plymouth State Panthers. The month of October ends at home for the Bucs as they'll host Worcester State on the 27th.

The final two games of the 10-game season are in early November with MMA on the road for both, first to Dartmouth for a battle with the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs followed with the final game of the season in Bridgewater where the defending champion Buccaneers take on the Bears in the 40th Annual Ocean Spray Cranberry Bowl.

Massachusetts Maritime will be led this fall by four seasoned veterans in senior captains Andrew DeCarteret and James Tranter and juniors Cameron Stewart and Kamil Bak.
