Men’s & Women’s Varsity Fours Take Third Place in Respective Events

LOWELL, Mass – The Buccaneer rowing crew traveled to UMass-Lowell on Saturday to take part in the River Hawk Challenge. Rowing against the likes of MIT, the University of Maine, URI and of course, UMass-Lowell, the Buccaneers held their own with third place finishes in the men's and women's varsity fours, fourth place in the second men's varsity fours race and sixth place in the men's novice race.

The women's varsity fours boat, with Miah Archambault (South Yarmouth, Mass) at the helm, finished with a time of 8:15.5, good for a third place finish behind first place, URI and second place, UMass-Lowell. URI finished with a time of 7:20.2.

The men's boat completed their third place finish behind winner Wentworth and second place finishers, UMass-Lowell.

The second men's varsity race ended with the Bucs placing fourth with a finishing time of 7:09.4 behind hosts UMass-Lowell. Bowdoin won the race with a times of 6:30.3.

In the men's novice race, the sixth place Buccaneers finished with a time of 7:30.5. Bowdoin also won the novice race with a finishing time of 6:16.2.

The Buccaneers next competition is at Bryant University on Saturday, April 27th and Sunday April 28th. It will be the final day of competition before the New England Rowing Championships at the Qunsigamond Rowing Association in Worcester, Mass on Saturday, May 4th.
