Women’s Varsity Fours Earn First Victory over Endicott

ESSEX, Mass – Saturday morning, the Buccaneer rowing team header to the north shore of Massachusetts for a day of competition with Endicott College and Gordon College. Despite a damp, cool morning at Chebacco Lake, the sun came out and temperatures rose quickly for a beautiful day of rowing.

Conditions on the water were ideal with light winds. The Bucs took advantage of the conditions with several great races, earning first, second and third place finishes on the day.

In the second round of races, the Maritime women, a boat consisting of McKenzie Hartman (Sudbury, Mass), Olivia Field (Littleton, Mass), Colleen Weir (North Andover, Mass), Patria Swan (Ashland, Ohio) and Miah Archambault (South Yarmouth, Mass) finished first with a time of 6:47.07, 6.07 seconds faster than the Endicott A boat. It was the first victory over Endicott for the women's team in Maritime history.

In the final race of the day, the varsity men's fours for the Bucs took home a second place finish, behind Gordon College, with a time of 5:55.19. The Maritime A boat was manned by William Nolan (Braintree, Mass), Cyrus Bastarche (Middleboro, Mass), John Carey (Braintree, Mass), Jacob Awalt (Harwich, Mass) and Aidan Alusic-Bingham (Antrim, N.H.). The Maritime B boat finished fourth in the event at 6:20.04.

The opening event of the day was the lowest finish for the Bucs all day with third and fourth place finished in the men's novice race. The two boats in the race finished with times of 6:23.57 and 6:46.73.

The Buccaneers next event in on Saturday, April 20th, the River Hawk Challenge, hosted by UMass-Lowell.
