Crew Squads Post Solid Performances In Season Opening Textile River Regatta

LOWELL, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads began their respective fall seasons with solid performances in the all-divisions Textile River Regatta that took place Sunday afternoon out of the Bellegarde Boat House on the Merrimack River.

 

The Buccaneer women’s varsity four comprised of freshman coxswain Heather Gaughan (Scituate, Mass.) along with senior Brianna Caissie (Webster, Mass.), sophomores McKenzie Hartman (Sudbury, Mass.) and Cat Swan (Ashland, Ohio) as well as freshman Hannah Mannai (Keene, N.H.), posted a 11th place finish time of 32:10.183 in the event that was won by Bowdoin.

 

Massachusetts Maritime’s men’s varsity four consisting of junior coxswain Ethan Logan (Vernon, Conn.) along with fellow juniors Timothy O’Neill (Block Island, R.I.), Tyler Vito (Foxboro, Mass.) and Patrick Wall (West Roxbury, Mass.) as well as sophomore Cyrus Bastarache (Middleboro, Mass.), finished 17th overall with a time of 29:50.917, as WPI was the first collegiate vessel to cross the line.

 

Both Buccaneer squads head to Shelton, Conn. on Saturday morning to compete at the Head of the Housatonic Regatta at Indian Well State Park beginning at 9:00 a.m.
