Crew Squads Close Out Fall Campaigns With Top Finishes At Brandeis Halloween Regatta

WALTHAM, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads wrapped up their respective fall seasons by posting a pair of top finishes and a runner-up honor at the Brandeis Halloween Regatta on Saturday afternoon.

 

Massachusetts Maritime’s men’s varsity four “A” entry consisting of junior coxswain Ethan Logan (Vernon, Conn.) along with fellow juniors Timothy O’Neill (Block Island, R.I.), Nathanael Costa (Forestdale, Mass.) and Patrick Wall (West Roxbury, Mass.) as well as sophomore Cyrus Bastarache (Middleboro, Mass.), claimed the top spot in the race with a time of 16:19.08 in edging the host Judges by a tenth of a second.  The Buccaneer “B” varsity four comprised of freshman coxswain Alexander Amadeo (Woburn, Mass.), along with junior Tyler Vito (Foxboro, Mass.) and freshmen Quincy Smith (Hingham, Mass.), Joseph Tragert (Ipswich, Mass.) and Jacob Awalt (Harwich, Mass.), finished third overall with a time of 18:03.

 

Massachusetts Maritime’s women’s varsity four comprised of freshman coxswain Heather Gaughan (Scituate, Mass.), sophomores McKenzie Hartman (Sudbury, Mass.) and Cat Swan (Ashland, Ohio) as well as freshmen Hana Haskell (Fairhaven, Mass.) and Hannah Mannai (Keene, N.H.), finished as the runner-up spot with a time of 20:04.11 in a race that was won by Brandeis.

 

The Buccaneer men’s novice four competed of coxswain Alexander Amadeo (Woburn, Mass.) and fellow freshmen John Carey (Braintree, Mass.), Seth Lapriore (Somerset, Mass.), Eric Higgins (Marshfield, Mass.) and William Nolan (Braintree, Mass.) captured the top spot in its competition with a time of 19:08.47, as Massachusetts Maritime topped the Judges by 1:28 in the event.
