Bucs Place 79 on All-Academic, Five for Fourth Time

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Association announced its Spring All-Academic Team, and a whopping 79 Buccaneer athletes were listed. In total, cadets from eight sports were honored, with at least four men and four women in each. Men’s lacrosse claimed the most honorees, as 17 players were tabbed for the list.

Hunt, Rouette Honored as 2017-18 Athletes of the Year

At the annual Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s Senior Student-Athlete Award Night, Stephanie Hunt and Mick Rouette were announced as the 2017-18 Players of the Year after stellar four-year careers for the Buccaneers. Seven other awards were also given out as part of the evening.

Women’s Athletics Golf Tournament a Day to Remember

The third annual Massachusetts Maritime Academy Women’s Athletics Golf Tournament was a delightful culmination to a record-setting spring for female Buccaneer athletes. Entergy Plymouth Station and C&W Services made the day possible and the generosity of sponsors, donors, and alumni was celebrated during the evening’s dinner at Cummaquid Golf Club.

Crew Concludes Season at New England Championships

Thirty-nine schools, including regional powerhouses like Boston College, Williams College, Bates College, and Bowdoin College, as well as Massachusetts Maritime Academy - converged on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts this past weekend for the New England Rowing Championships. The Buccaneer women’s quad finished in eight and the varsity men in sixth, while the novice men’s four was ninth.

Men’s Novice Crew Continues Rapid Improvement

The Massachusetts Maritime Academy crew team continues to improve on its times as the season draws to an end, with the men’s novice team showing particular growth. At Saturday’s Bryant University meet, the men’s varsity and novice teams finished neck-to-neck in second and third, while the women’s varsity was third.

Five Crews Race to Best Times of Season in D-I Meet

Faced with its toughest challenge yet, the Massachusetts Maritime Academy crew team rose to the occasion, with the men’s and women’s varsity fours rowing to fourth place finishes against mostly Division-I competition at the River Hawk Challenge.

Crew Claims Both Men’s Races

Both the men’s varsity and novice boats took home first place finishes at the Assumption College meet as Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s young crew squad continued to improve. Were it not for a technical malfunction, the women might have joined the men with their best finish of the year as well.

Novice Men Impress in Crew’s Best Result of the Year

Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s women’s sailing team had their best performance of the year and the Coach Francis X. McDonald shell was raced for only the second time, the first appearance for the boat in 2018. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers sent two men’s crews out, one varsity and one novice, with the latter pipped by only three seconds.

Swann and Costa Take Silver at Orleans Meet

Cat Swann and Nathanael Costa both took second place at the Orleans Sweeps and Skulls meet on Saturday as training continues for Massachusetts Maritime Academy Crew team in preparation for the New England Championships in a month. Virtually every rower had a season-high time as much of the squad competed.

Amherst College hosted Massachusetts Maritime, Fairfield, Mt. Holyoke, Smith, and the University of Connecticut men’s rowing. Fielding a very young squad with one female finalist and no male seniors, the crew team's first race of the season came with a learning curve as the Buccaneers finished last in each race.
