Men's & Women's Crew Squads Record Trio Of Top Four Performances At Clark Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads combined to record a trio of top four performances during competition at the Clark Regatta Sunday afternoon on Lake Quinsigamond.

 

The Buccaneer women’s varsity four consisting of senior coxswain James Lucenta (Yorktown, Va.), senior Rochelle Gaudette (Fall River, Mass.) and freshmen Cat Swan (Ashland, Ohio), McKenzie Hartman (Sudbury, Mass.) and Paige Decker (Nantucket, Mass.) posted a third place time of 10:25.8 in their race, as Connecticut College and Bowdoin claimed the top and runner-up spots.

 

The Massachusetts Maritime men’s varsity four comprised of senior coxswain Michael Pieroni (Arlington, Mass.), senior Liam Barry (Wellesley, Mass.), sophomores Patrick Wall (West Roxbury, Mass.) and Nathanael Costa (Forestdale, Mass.) as well as freshman Scott Jones (Lebanon, N.H.) placed fourth with a time of 8:23.4, as Bowdoin, Connecticut College and the host Cougars finished in the top three positions.

 

The Buccaneer men’s novice four consisting of sophomore coxswain Ethan Logan (Vernon, Conn), sophomores Tyler Vito (Foxboro, Mass.) and Beau Palanza (Mansfield, Mass.) along with freshmen Cyrus Bastarache (Middleboro, Mass.) and Shengyi Wang (Shanghai, China) also recorded a third place performance with a time of 9:14.2 in finishing behind a pair of Bowdoin entries in the race.

 

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads return to Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday morning for the New England Rowing Championships that begin at 9:00 a.m.
