Crew Squads Combine For Trio Of Top Nine Finishes At Greater Boston Invitational

LOWELL, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads recorded a trio of top nine performances on Saturday afternoon at the Greater Boston Invitational that took place on the Merrimack River.

 

The Buccaneer men’s varsity four comprised of junior coxswain Michael Pieroni (Arlington, Mass.), senior Ryan Skavis (Shrewsbury, Mass.), James Belbin (Carver, Mass.) and Liam Barry (Wellesley, Mass.) as well as junior Matthew Peluso (Ledyard, Conn.) finished fifth overall with a time of 8:50, while Massachusetts Maritime’s men’s novice four comprised of freshman coxswain Austin Wolfe (Wakefield, Mass.) and fellow freshmen Nathanael Costa (Forestdale, Mass.), Jacob Bernard (Kensington, Conn.), J. Nicholas August (Bristol, R.I.) and John Taglieri (Duxbury, Mass.) placed sixth in the competition with a time of 8:52.5.

 

The Buccaneer women’s varsity four consisting of junior coxswain James Lucenta (Yorktown, Va.), junior Rochelle Gaudette (Fall River, Mass.), sophomore Brianna Caissie (Webster, Mass.) and freshmen Olivia Swenson (Centerville, Mass.) and Kaleigh Hoffman (Noblesville, Ind.) posted a ninth place time in the event of 10:31.9.

 

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads return to action next Sunday, April 24th by heading to Worcester, Mass. to square off with Bowdoin, Connecticut College, Rhode Island and host Clark at 9:00 a.m.
