Crew Squads Record Quartet Of Top Six Performances At Seven Team Clark Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads combined to record four top six finishes in competition in the seven team Clark Regatta that took place on Sunday afternoon on Lake Quinsigamond against Amherst, Bowdoin, Connecticut College, Rhode Island, Wentworth and the host Cougars.

 

The Buccaneer women’s varsity four consisting of junior coxswain Matthew Peluso (Ledyard, Conn.), junior Rochelle Gaudette (Fall River, Mass.), sophomore Brianna Caissie (Webster, Mass.) and freshmen Olivia Swenson (Centerville, Mass.) and Kaleigh Hoffman (Noblesville, Ind.) posted a fourth place time of 9:38.72, while Massachusetts Maritime’s second varsity four comprised of junior coxswain James Lucenta (Yorktown, Va.), junior Laura Hahn (Colchester, Conn.), sophomore Christina Brennan (Halifax, Mass.) and freshmen Andie Painten (Walpole, Mass.) and Cameron Harris-Browne (Lebanon, N.J.) recorded a third place time of 10:02.05.  Connecticut College and Bowdoin captured the respective top spots in both events.

 

On the men’s side, the Buccaneer varsity four consisting of junior coxswain Michael Pieroni (Arlington, Mass.) and seniors Ryan Skavis (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Andrew Murphy (Randolph, Mass.), Liam Barry (Wellesley, Mass.) and James Belbin (Carver, Mass.) placed fifth with a time of 7:59.13, while the men’s second varsity four comprised of coxswain Swenson, Peluso, junior Jeffrey Kahler (Brattleboro, Vt.) and freshmen Nathanael Costa (Forestdale, Mass.) and Patrick Wall (West Roxbury, Mass.) recorded a sixth place finishing time of 8:39.51.  Bowdoin claimed the top spot in both of the men’s races as well.

 

Massachusetts Maritime wraps up its spring campaign next Saturday by competing at the New England Championships that begin at 9:00 a.m.
