Men's & Women's Crew Enjoy Solid Performances In Quad Regatta On Lake Quinsigamond

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads enjoyed solid performances on Saturday afternoon in a regatta that included Amherst, Connecticut College and host Clark on Lake Quinsigamond.

 

The Buccaneer men’s varsity four consisting of sophomore coxswain James Belbin (Carver, Mass.), fellow sophomores Andrew Murphy (Randolph, Mass.), Ryan Skavis (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Eric DeMarines (Pepperell, Mass.) as well as freshman James Coburn (Higganum, Conn.) placed fourth with a time of 7:27.57, while the women’s varsity four consisting of freshman coxswain Katherine Rastallis (East Falmouth, Mass.), junior Jillian Stronk (Cheshire, Conn.) and freshmen Madisen Buttner (Lakeville, Mass.), Laura Hahn (Colchester, Conn.) and Genevieve Devine (Canton, Mass.) placed sixth with a time of 9:32.37.

 

Massachusetts Maritime’s men’s novice four “A” entry, which was comprised of freshman coxswain Michael Pieroni (Arlington, Mass.), sophomore Dylan White (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshmen Anthony Bratica (Milford, Mass.), Timothy Birch (Hollis, N.H.) and James Lucenta (Yorktown, Va.) placed fourth with a time of 8:24.64, while the “B” boat of freshman coxswain Sam Perriello (Weymouth, Mass.) and fellow freshmen Stephen Gillis (Stoughton, Mass.), Matthew Peluso (Ledyard, Conn.), Jeffrey Kahler (Brattleboro, Vt.) and Benjamin Monteiro (North Falmouth, Mass.) finished fifth with a time of 9:07.31.

 

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads wrap up the 2014 spring season next Saturday afternoon by competing at the New England Championships that begins at 9:00 a.m.
