Crew Squads Post Solid Performances In Dual Competition At UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads were in action on Saturday afternoon in dual competition with UMass Lowell on the Merrimack River, as the Buccaneers boated a pair of varsity squads and two men’s novice squads on the day.

The men’s varsity four consisting of freshman coxswain John Hubert (Trumbull, Conn.) along with juniors Josh Lamm (North Andover, Mass.), Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.) and Devin McNeil (Westford, Mass.) as well as sophomore Alex Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.), posted a time of 7:28, while the women’s varsity four consisting of freshman coxswain Jillian Stronk (Cheshire, Conn.) along with juniors Janeen Manghis (Nantucket, Mass.), Alicia Tarr (Danvers, Mass.) and Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.) as well as sophomore Kelsie Brien (Methuen, Mass.) notched a time of 8:54.

The men’s novice four consisting of freshman coxswain Anthony Downs (West Roxbury, Mass.) along with senior Colin Giles (Brentwood, N.H.) and freshmen Stephen Sweeney (West Roxbury, Mass.), Paul Cullen (Gardner, Mass.) and James Mattson (Marion, Mass.), posted a time of 8:25, while the men’s second novice four consisting of freshman coxswain Eric Holmes (Sutton, Mass.) along with sophomore Michael Tisdale (Leominster, Mass.) and freshmen Gregory Frank (Stoughton, Mass.), Thomas Jackson (Stoneham, Mass.) and Joshua Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass.) notched a time of 9:58.

Massachusetts Maritime and UMass Lowell will do battle once again next Saturday in dual competition on the Merrimack River beginning at 9:00 a.m.
