Crew Squads Record Four Top 10 Finishes At Quinsigamond Snake Regatta, New Hampshire Championships

WORCESTER, Mass./PEMBROKE, N.H. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads competed in a pair of events over the weekend and posted solid performances in difficult racing conditions at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta and the New Hampshire Championships.

The Buccaneer varsity women’s four consisting of sophomore coxswain Lisa Burke (Hanson, Mass.), juniors Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.) and Alicia Tarr (Danvers, Mass.) as well as sophomores Amanda Tine (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Kelsie Brien (Methuen, Mass.) finished eighth at the Quinsigmond Snake Regatta with a time of 20:17.3, as Bowdoin took top honors in the event with a time of 16:32.1.  Sophomore Alex Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.) served as the women’s varsity four coxswain at the New Hampshire Championships with the tandem of Denapoli, Tarr, Burke and freshman Jillian Stronk (Cheshire, Conn.), as Massachusetts Maritime posted a 12th place time of 20:27.71.  Clark was the top collegiate squad across the finish line at New Hampshire with a time of 16:21.96.

On the men’s side, the Buccaneer varsity four “A” boat consisting of freshman John Hubert (Trumbull, Conn.), Jagielski and juniors Josh Lamm (North Andover, Mass.), Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.) and Devin McNeil (Westford, Mass.) placed 10th at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta with a time of 16:11.3, as Bowdoin took top honors in the race with a time of 14:22.1.  The Massachusetts Maritime “A” tandem of Hubert, Lamm, Mourey, Jagielski and freshman Ryan Gilliland (Barnstable, Mass.) recorded a seventh place finish at the New Hampshire Championships with a time of 15:30.97, as Clark was the first collegiate squad across the line with a time of 14:47.92.

The Buccaneer varsity four “B” boat consisting of sophomore coxswain Matthew Lester (Monroe Township, N.J.), senior Mark Brien (Methuen, Mass.) and sophomores Tyler Fifield (Wakefield, Mass.), Andrew MacDonald (Franklin, Mass.) and Maxwell Horton (Malden, Mass.) posted an 18th place finish at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta with a time of 17:46.7 before notching a 10th place finish at the New Hampshire Championships with a time of 16:22.41.

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads will be idle until Saturday, October 29th when the Buccaneers travel to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. to participate in the Head of the Fish Regatta that begins at 9:00 a.m.
