Men's Crew Posts Third, Fifth Place Finishes At Pope's Island Regatta

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime men’s crew team posted third and fifth place finishes during competition at the Pope’s Island Regatta on Sunday afternoon.

The Buccaneer “A” varsity four consisting of freshman coxswain John Hubert (Trumbull, Conn.), juniors Josh Lamm (North Andover, Mass.), Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.) and Devin McNeil (Westford, Mass.), along with sophomore Alex Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.), finished third with a time of 19:54, while the Massachusetts Maritime “B” varsity four comprised of junior coxswain Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.) and sophomores Tyler Fifield (Wakefield, Mass.), Matthew Lester (Monroe Township, N.J.), Andrew MacDonald (Franklin, Mass.) and Maxwell Horton (Malden, Mass.) placed fifth with a time of 21:51.  Wentworth’s “A” varsity four took top honors in the competition with a time of 19:07.

Both the Buccaneer men’s and women’s squads will be in action at two events next weekend, competing at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Saturday morning in Worcester, Mass. before heading to Pembroke, N.H. on Sunday morning to compete at the New Hampshire Championships.
