
Bucs Lose Staff Day to Wentworth in Non-Conference Play
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers hosted Wentworth on Wednesday in non-conference play. Between the two teams there were 16 pitchers used, nine by the Buccaneers as the team prepared for their five-game conference weekend with MCLA and Bridgewater State. Wentworth went up in the fourth and never relinquished the lead, beating the Bucs, 9-4.

How It Happened
All was calm at Hendy field through the first three innings of play as the teams remained at a scoreless draw through three. In the top of the fourth, Wentworth broke the game open with three runs. Petit delivered the first with a home run off of the scoreboard in left field. Robinson and Sibert singled in the inning, each driving in a run. In the bottom of the fourth, White singled to left center for the Bucs and Quillen scored from second. Maritime trailed Wentworth, 3-1, after four innings of play.
The Bucs closed the gap again in the bottom of the fifth with one run. Vieira laid down what was intended to be a squeeze bunt and ended up on first with a base hit allowing Estrada to score from third. The Bucs trailed 3-2 after five.
In the sixth, Wentworth scored four runs thanks to doubles from Prisco and Roncal and singles by Petit and Sibert to give the guests a 7-2 advantage.
Wentworth extended their lead in the top of the seventh with one run and another in the top of the eighth and led the Buccaneers through seven and a half, 9-2. In the bottom of the eighth frame, the Bucs earned two bases-loaded walks of Beechin and Sullivan which brought in Gorry and Houston to put the Bucs down five, 9-4.
Wentworth held the Bucs at bay in the ninth and earned the midweek non-conference win, 9-4, over the Buccaneers.
What's Next
The Bucs are back home on Saturday for senior day and two games against MCLA in conference beginning at 1pm.
