BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – Saturday afternoon, the Buccaneers hosted Framingham State in a MASCAC doubleheader which was senior day for the four Buccaneer seniors and marks the end of the 2019 season for Maritime. After losing the first game of the three-game series Friday night in Framingham, the Buccaneers took game one of the doubleheader, 1-0, and concluded their 2019 season with a 4-2 win in game two to take the three-game series 2-1 and sweep the doubleheader.

Game One

How It Happened

Maritime scored first in game one of the double header when Marley Dembitzki (North Dartmouth, Mass) scored stealing home as a part of a Buccaneer double steal 

Both team's would threaten the rest of the game, including multiple time that the Rams has runners on second and third or bases loaded, as it were in the top of the seventh inning. Thanks to great pitching and defensive play by both teams, the Bucs pulled out the 1-0 win in game one.

At The Plate

Maritime went 4-for-20 at the plate in game one. Four different players had hits in the game for the Bucs, including all three seniors in the lineup, Paul Sances (Middleboro, Mass), Marley Dembitzki (North Dartmouth, Mass) and Bobby Beane (Hingham, Mass).

Sances had the only extra base hit of the game, a double.

Dembitzki scored the lone run of the game on a steal of home plate on a double steal.

Maritime walked twice, struck out once and left three runners on base.

Framingham batted 5-for-25 in game one. Gino Desimone had two hits for the Rams.

Three Players, Desimone, Aaron Williams and Andrew Curtis each had doubles for FSU.

The Rams walked four times, struck out four times and left nine runners on base.

Game Two

How It Happened

Though there was more offense in game two, it was still a low scoring pitcher's duel. Maritime scored first again in game two in the bottom of the first on an AJ Luciano (Lynn, Mass) single down the right field line, scoring Marley Dembitzki (North Dartmouth, Mass).

In the bottom of the second frame, the Bucs struck three times to take a 4-0 lead. Two runs scored on a Paul Sances (Middleboro, Mass) infield single that hit off the pitchers rubber allowing Alex Schlapak (Dover, N.H.) to score from third and Bobby Beane (Hingham, Mass) to score from second on a high hop to the shortstop.

Down 4-0, Framingham trying to avoid a doubleheader sweep and a conference series loss finally got on the board in the top of the fourth, scoring two runs on an RC Goodman infield single, scoring Matt Fogarty and Bobby Higgins.

The 4-2 score would remain through the rest of the game and in the bottom of the seventh, the Bucs shut the door on the Rams, earning the doubleheader sweep and the conference series win by the 4-2 score.

Maritime batted 7-for-23 in game two. Sances and Luciano each had multi-hit games.

Sances drove in two runs, Luciano and Joe Sanchez (Dracut, Mass) each drove in a run.

Maritime walked four times, struck out five times and left six runners on base.

Framingham batted 5-for-25 in game two. Kyle Lippert was the only player to have a multi-hit game for the Rams.

Goodman drove in both FSU runs.

The Rams walked three times, struck out 10 times and left four runners on base.

The Buccaneers finish their 2019 campaign 11-27 overall and 8-13 in the MASCAC.
