Bulldogs Best Bucs in Front end of Home-and-Home

 BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – The Buccaneers hosted the Dean College Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon on Taylor's Point in the front end of a home-and-home with the Bulldogs. A close game all the way through, the Bulldogs beat the Bucs 7-3.

 

How It Happened

Dean scored first in the top of the first, plating two runs on a Matt Callahan (Attleboro, Mass). The Buccaneers, unable to answer in the first, answered in the bottom of the second on a double steal, Bobby Beane (Hingham, Mass) stole second, Matt Langan (North Easton, Mass) stole home, cutting the Dean lead in half, 2-1.

The Bulldogs scored two runs in the top of the third on another two-run double by Callahan, giving Dean a 4-1 advantage.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Bucs, again, cut the lead in half scoring a run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dylan Sullo (Acushnet, Mass), plating Langan.

In the top of the fifth, Callahan hit his third double of the game for Dean, bringing in another run, his fifth RBI of the game. The Bulldogs scored another run on another double by Ryan Gallagher (Methuen, Mass).

In the top of the sixth, Dean scored their seventh and final run, taking a 7-2 lead at the times.

Buccaneer pitching held the Bulldogs the rest of the way but couldn't find the offense to get back in to the game, scoring one additional run in the bottom of the eighth on a Nick Haley (Hanson, Mass) single, scoring Ben Paine (North Dartmouth, Mass). A scoreless ninth finished off the 7-3 win for the visiting Bulldogs.

At The Plate

Maritime went 4-for-31 at the plate in the game. Langan had two of the four Buccaneer hits. Langan also had the only extra base hit, a triple.

The Bucs worked three walks, struck out twice and left five runners on base.

Dean went 11-for-37 at the plate. Callahan had three of the Bulldog hits. He also drove in five runs and scored once.

Dean drew three walks, struck out seven times and left eight runners on base.
