Baseball Falls to Bison in Home Opener

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – Originally scheduled Sunday but moved to Monday due to field conditions, the Buccaneers opened their home schedule against the Nichols College Bison on Monday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field. Due to low offensive production the Bucs lost to the Bison 12-1.

How It Happened

The first four innings of the game were a pitcher's duel between Buc Starter, John Teehan (Hyde Park, Mass) and Bison starter, Kyle Desjardins (North Granby, Conn) and reliever Andrew Charbonneau (Berlin, Conn) as the teams went scoreless in those four frames. In the fifth, both teams got on the scoreboard, starting with the Bison in the top of the inning, scoring four, three of which which came on a Christian Naccari (Ossining, N.Y.) home run to centerfield. The Bucs scored one run in the bottom of the frame on a bases loaded walk of senior captain Paul Sances (Middleboro, Mass).

The Bison had two more four run innings in the seventh and eighth. In the seventh, Naccari got involved again hitting a two-run double to centerfield. In the eighth, Kyle Bouchard (Fall River, Mass) highlighted the Nichols scoring with a two-run double of his own. Bouchard would then score the 12th run for the visitors later in the inning, capping of a 12-1 victory for the road team in the Bucs home opener.
