Bucs head home 0-3 After Second Loss to Dutchmen

FORT PIERCE, Fla – Sunday afternoon, the Buccaneers squared off against Lebanon Valley College for the second time after being shutout 15-0 by the Dutchmen Saturday night. The Buccaneers made an attempt at a late surge but lost their third and final game down south, 11-6, to LVC.

How it Happened

As they did in the game Saturday night, the Dutchmen opened the scoring early, plating three runs in the top of the first inning, all with two outs. Josh Herring, who was a big factor in LVC's first matchup with Maritime, drove in two of the three runs in the inning.

Lebanon Valley kept the scoring going in the second, scoring five more runs to take an 8-0 lead. The Bucs got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning on a wild pitch that scored Aiden Henderson (Hanover, Mass).

Maritime would allow three more runs in the game, one in the top of the fourth and two in the top of the eighth. The Bucs scored two of their own in the bottom of the fifth Ben Paine (Dartmouth, Mass) scored on a wild pitch, and Angus McNeil (Middleton, Mass) and Robert Dembitzki (North Dartmouth, Mass) scored on a JohnPaul Kelley (Quincy, Mass) single.

With the score 11-3 after seven and a half innings, the Buccaneers were down to their last six outs. In the bottom of the eighth, with two outs, the Bucs started a rally the brought across three runs but that was where the rally and the scoring ended. The Dutchmen had beaten the Bucs for the second time in Florida and the Buccaneers fell to 0-3 on the season.

Five players for the Bucs recorded multi-hit games, including Kelley who had two hits in each of the three games in Florida and drove in two runs.

Robert Beane (Hingham, Mass) and Paine each had a double in the game.

Lebanon Valley was outhit but worked nine walks in the game.

Each team left more than 10 runners on base.

Herring went 4-for-5 in the game for LVC.

Up Next: The Buccaneers return home from Florida and will be off until Saturday when they host Dean College in a non-conference double header beginning at 12pm.
