Bio

Buzz Schofield grew up in Weymouth MA. At MMA was on the football and track team. He was a talented quarterback on the MMA football teams of the late 1950's, but is best remembered for his sailing prowess and his support of collegiate sailing since his undergraduate days. In 1984, Schofield, a world-class sailor, donated his Palmer Johnson 46 sloop Arieto to his alma mater. He has spearheaded the Academy's participation in Bermuda Race and World Cup competitions.Buzz was a very proud alumni and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate. An accomplished sailor and member of the New York Yacht Club, Buzz embarked on a lengthy racing career. He was a proud sponsor of the sailing programs at Mass Maritime and Duxbury Bay Maritime School as well as the America’s Cup program. After his time as a Merchant Mariner, Buzz established his company, Schofield Properties LLC., building and developing properties and was the first to bring condominiums to the South Shore.
